Instruction for Authors
Last updated: 22 October 2026
Authors should read these instructions together with the Aims and Scope, Journal Policies and Publication Ethics Policy.
1. Before submission
- The manuscript must be original, unpublished and not under consideration by another journal.
- The submission must be within the journal's aims and scope and may be written in English or Bahasa Melayu.
- All authors must approve the submitted version and agree on authorship and author order.
- The manuscript must be prepared for double-anonymous review. Remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgements and other identifying information from the manuscript and its file properties.
- Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material.
2. Files to upload
Upload an editable manuscript file in DOC or DOCX format and a separate title page.
Title page
The title page should contain the manuscript title; each author's full name and institutional affiliation; the corresponding author's email address and telephone number; ORCID iDs where available; acknowledgements; author-contribution information; funding information; competing-interest declarations; and any applicable ethics, consent and data-availability statements.
The manuscript title should be bold in 14-point type. Author names and affiliations should use single spacing and 10-point type, with affiliations in italics. Centre-align the title-page text. Corresponding-author details and acknowledgements may be presented in an 8-point footnote marked with an asterisk.
Anonymised manuscript
The anonymised manuscript should contain the title, structured abstract, keywords, JEL classification, main text, references, tables and figures. Do not include author-identifying details.
3. Structured abstract, keywords and JEL codes
Provide a structured abstract of approximately 300–350 words, a maximum of six keywords, and relevant JEL classification codes. Use the following headings:
- Research Question: Define the central research question or problem in one sentence.
- Motivation: Explain the scholarly motivation, relevant gap or puzzle, novelty, and why the answer matters.
- Idea: State the central idea, hypotheses where relevant, and principal variables or constructs.
- Data: Summarise the data sources, period, sample and measurement tools.
- Method/Tools: Summarise the empirical framework, research design and approach.
- Findings: Present the principal results, their relationship to previous research, and important implications.
- Contributions: State the manuscript's main contribution to the literature.
4. Manuscript format
- Use single spacing and 10-point type for the main text.
- Number pages consecutively at the bottom right.
- Use bold for main-section headings (for example, 1. Introduction) and first-level subsection headings (for example, 3.1 Data Sample). Use italics for lower-level headings (for example, 3.1.1 Data Source).
- Use a maximum of 9-point type in tables and figures and 8-point type for footnotes and table notes.
5. Tables and figures
Embed tables and figures in the manuscript and number them consecutively using Arabic numerals. Each must have a concise title and be cited in the text. Keep a table on one page where practicable; landscape orientation is acceptable. Do not use vertical table rules. Place explanatory notes below the table, preceded by Notes:. Align tables and their titles left, and figures and their titles centrally. Figures must be clear and suitable for publication.
6. References
Use the current edition of the American Psychological Association (APA) style. Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of every citation and reference.
7. Required declarations
Include the following statements on the title page or explain why they do not apply:

- Competing interests: Disclose financial, personal, professional or institutional interests that could influence the work, or state that none exist.
